My Favorite Kid-Friendly Meals

Updated on March 31, 2015

Where to Find these Recipes

Before we get started, I just wanted to show you where to find all of these recipes. Since this is a compilation post of all my favorites, I have made them myself & therefore, they are on my blog. Instead of plug a bunch of links to the same site, I'm just giving you one link that will take you to all of them. This way, hubpags won't get mad at me. All sources and inspirations are listed in the blog posts. So check them out:

Kid-Friendly Recipes on the For Love of Cupcakes Blog

Yummy!

Breakfasts, Lunches, Dinners, Desserts

Breakfasts

- Banana Bread Muffins
Simply pour batter into a loaf pan instead of a muffin tin and make banana bread!

- Homemade Granola Bars
This recipe is great because you can add your favorite granola ingredients! Allergic to peanut butter? Don't put in the PB chips, do white chocolate instead. Like almonds? Throw 'em in! etc.

- Pancakes
On my blog (linked above), I have an adjusted pancake recipe. It's simple and the adjustments are small, but it makes for GREAT pancakes and my favorite breakfast.

Lunches / Dinners
(non-pasta)

- Mini Pizza Bagels
The recipe for this easy, delicious lunch (or late-night snack) can be found on my blog and within this hub.

- Tater Tot Casserole
This casserole is a fun recipe given to me by my mother-in-law!

- Chicken Caesar Sliders
I love making this for parties. Everyone grab some slider buns, throw on the chicken from the crock pot, add lettuce, mustard and whatever else. Eat up!

- Stuffing Chicken
This is a dinner & side dish in one!

- Chicken Pot Pie
For this recipe, I always use a little bit of leftover chicken from another meal because it only calls for a cup of cubed chicken.

- Tacos / Quesadillas
What a classic!

(pasta)

- Baked Mostaccioli
- Baked Mac 'n Cheese
- Baked Ravioli
Mmm baked pasta.

- Vegetable Spinach Lasagna Roll Ups
This is my go-to recipe for when I have vegetarians over, or I want to impress people. Wink face.

- Crock Pot Lasagna
And this is my lasagna recipe for when I want MEAT in my lasagna! Plus, I love crock pot recipes... so easy.

Desserts

- Mini Apple Pies
These are so easy. I don't know why I don't make them more often. You just need apples, crescent roles, cinnamon, sugar, butter...

- Banana Treat
Bananas are super healthy. This is such a fun twist.

- Apple Crisp
Serve with some vanilla ice cream. SO so good!

- "Ice Cream" Sandwich
The "ice cream" is frozen cool whip. These are fun for kids, and delicious, but not the most healthy.

Have Kids Help!

Not only can having kids help prepare / make the meals, but it can also help picky eaters eat more!

By seeing all the ingredients that go into recipes, the meals become less intimidating.

Many of these recipes make it very easy for kids to help. My daughter loves pouring, adding ingredients like tater tots and cheese, etc. She likes seeing these simple ingredients transform into a meal.

These Meals are Healthy

Before you freak out, they're not the MOST healthy meals. Some have sugar. Some use cream of chicken soup. BUT they're still home-cooked / home-made. They're also much healthier than pre-packaged meals and desserts you can buy out in the world.

Cook Time for MOST of the (non-crock pot) Lunches & Dinners

Prep time: 10 min
Cook time: 30 min
Ready in: 40 min
Yields: Four - Six Servings

Ingredients for the Pizza Bagels

  • Bagel Half
  • Pizza Sauce
  • Mozzerella Cheese
  • Cheddar Jack Cheese
  • Pepperoni (optional)
  • Pizza Seasonings (optional)

Instructions for the Pizza Bagels

  1. Cut Bagels in half, put them face-up on a foiled cookie sheet.
  2. Add Pizza Sauce.
  3. Sprinkle on Cheeses.
  4. Add Pepperonis (however many you like).
  5. Sprinkle more cheese on top of the pepperoni.

- Tater Tots AKA Potato Puffs
- Raviolis
- Mixed Veggies

I Need More Recipes! Please Share Your Favorites!

Part of the reason I'm writing this hub is that I need more recipes! My family is looking to find some more variety, especially when it comes to lunches and dinners. My favorite kinds of meals are EASY, with just a few ingredients, healthy, but without complicated directions or ingredients of which I've never heard.

So what are YOUR go-to recipes?? What are your favorite meals that your kids love too? I'd also love to hear about your ideas where your kids can help. Let me know! Leave me a comment or send me a link to your hub / blog post.

Thanks in advance!

Oh! We could also really use more side dish ideas!
